The Marketing and Sponsorship Officers are vital in maintaining the financial viability and sustainability of AMSA. Over the last 18 months the economic downturn has illustrated the importance of taking a long-term financial perspective for AMSA. In 2010, our bid is offering two individuals who are committed to working methodically, effectively and enthusiastically with this vision in mind. We will build upon the way in which AMSA currently works with its sponsors, to create, maintain and maximise mutually beneficial relationships.
We will also make the transition to sponsorship on a financial year basis which will allow us to coordinate with the financial management of prospective companies. This will allow us to obtain sponsorship at the beginning of the fiscal year rather than the calendar year – a time when sponsors have a larger amount of money available. Furthermore, by working with sponsors on a financial year basis we will enable future M&S officers to build up a rapport with the sponsors, before they are required to strike new deals for the following 12 months. We will also endeavour to broaden our sponsorship base by offering more flexible and unique sponsorship options for more novel sponsors, while solidifying our relationships with current ones.
Our combined experience and skills make us a perfect team for the Marketing and Sponsorship officers. With Cam’s experience as Sponsorship Officer for the Sydney Uni Medsoc, and organisation of Sydney Uni Med Revue’s Sponsorship and Marketing and Steve’s organisation of Newcastle Uni Medsoc events, we offer experience at both the levels of obtaining and attracting sponsors and the implementation of sponsorship opportunities. We both love talking and working with people and will relish the opportunity to work in the AMSA executive and with AMSA’s sponsors.

As individuals, we bring a valuable set of skills to our positions and the executive that will allow us to work together like a well-oiled machine. AMSA’s unique range of publications and events lends itself to flexibility in terms of sponsorship, and by re-examining our sponsorship prospectus and the way we do things, we believe we can further increase our attractiveness to sponsors. In the past, we believe AMSA has over-priced certain aspects of what can be offered to sponsors, while undervaluing certain other potentially lucrative events, particularly Convention. We will work to readjust our pricing regimen to develop the most profitable and sustainable plan possible.
