Welcome to the NSWACT Bid Blog!

I’m very excited to be writing what I hope is the first of many blogs designed to better connect the 2010 AMSA executive to all its medical student members next year.

This blog will be a place where I’ll be writing about not only what the executive is up to, but also draw attention to important stories that come up in the media which affect medical students, and also to provide a commentary about some of AMSA’s big policy issues and the efforts being made to address them.

A blog like this is a cheap, simple, yet effective way for AMSA to communicate to its members, and is one part of our strategy to improve the way AMSA gets its message out there and connect with our members. We will integrate this with Embolus, Twitter, Facebook, RSS and other methods, so no medical student, technologically literate or not, can say that they don’t know what AMSA is or can do for them.

But this blog, which will be updated fortnightly, forms just one part of our plan to improve our marketing and boost AMSA’s internal and external profile. To find out more about some of our other plans for communication, I urge you to have a look at our bid document and poke around the bid website a little more, or give me a call directly.

Finally, don’t forget to have a watch of our BidVid, which as our Bid Document outlined, is part of our promise to produce regular, entertaining but informative short videos to play at lectures or at home to better connect and inform med students of the big issues. A huge thank you to Doherty the Sydney Uni film crew (who also brought you the now viral ‘Jizz in My Scrubs’ med revue video) for helping out with the filming!

Thanks for reading this far, and all of us on the NSWACT bid team are eagerly looking forward to October Council – see you there!
